Student Research: Espa帽ola GloveWorks
Northern New Mexico College engineering students and Espa帽ola Valley High School鈥檚 (EVHS) Math, Engineering, Science Application (MESA) program are applying the engineering skills they are learning to a project that could significantly improve the lives of Parkinson鈥檚 patients. Under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Steve Cox and EVHS teachers Janice Patal-e and Lyne Salero, the students are working to develop a glove that sends electrical impulses through the nerves to alleviate symptoms of the disease.
麻豆直播 Interns Explore Career Opportunities in the Community
In Fall of 2024, Northern New Mexico College鈥檚 (麻豆直播) Career Services Department launched a transformative internship program designed to provide career-ready opportunities for first-generation college students from underserved communities. The internships are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and workforce readiness. During the program鈥檚 first year, Career Services has placed 50 students in paid internships across a range of high-demand fields.
麻豆直播 Students Excel at a Trades Bootcamp
Four Northern New Mexico College trades students made us shine during a Trades Culture Bootcamp at Western Colorado University! Luka Torrez, George Lopez, Mario Perez and Edwardo Martinez got the opportunity to practice the skills they have been learning in Northern鈥檚 Electrical Technology program as well as new construction techniques helping to build a solar powered gazebo that will let WCU students study outdoors in comfort.
New Tech Trades Programs at 麻豆直播: Carpentry, Welding, HVAC
Northern New Mexico College Technical Trades is excited to announce three new programs designed to prepare students for careers in high-paying, in-demand industries: HVAC Technology, Welding Technology and Carpentry Technology. All three programs were designed in conjunction with local unions to ensure students are trained to current industry standards. Graduates are eligible for one-year pre- apprenticeship programs, with could potentially reduce a four-year apprenticeship (leading to journeyman status) by one year.
